Answer: Upland Street in Islington, N1 has lots of excellent European/modern British restaurants including 'Fig & Olive', Carluccio's, Almeida (in Almeida Lane), Ottolenghi and Frederick's.
It also has some excellent gastro-pubs including the House

i relish dining out but it's all so expensive in central london. Does anyone know of any nice, less expensive places with skilful food and a good standard of hygiene and atmosphere?

Answer: There is a tolerable website called TopTable. It allows you to search for restaurants by location, expenditure range etc. It gives you loads of usefull informaiton such as menus, prices, reviews etc as well as present loads of great deals and offers.

Answer: On the rest-home page of Yahoo answers there is an option on the bottom left to change the content of the answers from "All English Questiosn to UK & Ireland Questions only"

Substitute it to UK & Ireland questions only,

Boo in London: Formans - Dining with Dos Hermanos (minus Simon)

We were served 4 kinds of Formans London salt smoked salmon, with buckwheat blinis, capers, diced shallots and creme fraiche. I had a infinitesimal hindrance locating the venue, though I did relish in wandering around this, for me heretofore unexplored, range of East London. The conduit circuit was served m kind, a gigantic porchetta with the most crunchy and pieces in ruins crackling I've ever eaten. It was one of the highlights of the evening. This was accompanied by a window (with multiple refills consequently) of Nyetimber Immortal Cuvee 1995 which was one of the finest sparkling wines I have ever tried. I could have bender this all evening....
