Where Should I Stay In The West End London?

my mute and i are taking a trip to london next friday,we are hoping to see a show in the west end,has anybody any ideas on where we should stay [somewhere cheap and gleeful]also what show would you recommend,,,we're novices at this so any advice would

1) The most expensive parts are in central London, Mayfair, the West End etc. The further you get from the centre the cheaper accommodation gets but the delight system is pretty good so you shouldn't have much of a problem.
