Prehistoric frogs face extinction - News - Conservation - ZSLThe simple Archey’s frog (Leiopelma archeyi) and Hochstetter’s frog (Leiopelma hochstetteri) are two of the species that people the limit of ‘luxurious protection value’ on New Zealand’s North Ait where the mining is planned to take village. Archey’s frog is currently ranked top of ZSL's Advantage of Continuance amphibian catalogue, making it the most evolutionarily evident and globally imperilled amphibian on the planet.
