Really Nice Hotel For 1/2 Nights? Country House Hotel Or Coast?

Can anyone endorse anywhere - no more than 50 miles from Surrey? (with link if poss, please). Somewhere really nice or even sumptous? Not interested in golf, bring or spa would be nice but not essential. Just looking for somewhere to relax, nice surroundings,

Answer: I would advise the following in Kent:

Read's Restaurant with Rooms - REALLY lovely and a upright "special occasion" type place to stay. Gets fabulous write-ups in all the papers. About a 10 minute drive from the coast.

I out the night at the Driscoll House Hotel at 172 New Kent Road and it was a really shocking savoir faire that anyone could be asked to pay money to stay in such accomodation. The building on the exterior is very presentable and a solitary one but

Answer: Lately to agree with what some of the others have said - not sure what you expected for £30 per night; going rating in a backpacker's these days can be £25 dependent on area. If you're a tourist you wouldn't recognize what, but maybe next time you

Answer: According to Harrod's website, the anterior Harrods shop burnt down around 1880. So the *present* building that exists today was constructed by Harrods (on a enormous scale) in the 1880's to replace the one that burnt down.
