I'm hazardous to get into teaching and have applied for more than 100 jobs for a teacher's assistant but haven't had any luck. Being a single parent now, I can't be able to go into university to study to become a teacher. I have been in IT in the past

Answer: First of all, you can pay it. It is free tuition and you can get a student loan to cover your books and travelling expenses which you will not pay back until you are teaching.

There are two major routes into teaching, one is a teaching degree, the other is a degree followed by a teaching qualification.
